How to Clean and Maintain Your WPM Milk Steamer

A step-by-step guide to daily and weekly cleaning for optimal performance and longevity.

Daily Cleaning (After Each Use):

  1. Wipe the Steam Wand:

    • Immediately after steaming milk, use a clean, damp cloth to wipe the steam wand thoroughly. This prevents milk residue from drying and clogging the nozzle.
  2. Purge the Steam Wand:

    • Position the steam wand over the drip tray.
    • Activate the steam by pressing the 'Clean/Flushing' button. The steam wand will purge for approximately 3 seconds to expel any milk remnants inside the nozzle.

Weekly Deep Cleaning:

  1. Prepare the Machine:

    • Confirm the water tank is filled with fresh water. 
    • Add approximately 50ml of cleaning solution to the tank. 
    • Position a large, heat-resistant container or jug beneath the steam nozzle. The container should be large enough to hold the contents of the water tank. 
  2. Activate Cleaning Mode:

    • Press and hold the 'Clean/Flushing' button for 3 seconds to enter cleaning mode; the display will indicate this status.
  3. Start the Cleaning Cycle:

    • Press the 'Steam' button to commence the cleaning cycle. The machine will perform a rhythmic hot water dispensing program to cleanse internal components.
  4. Complete the Cycle:

    • The program will conclude when the water tank is empty. Empty the jug or container. 
    • Remove the empty water tank, and rinse thoroughly rinse to remove and cleaning solution residue.  
    • Refill the water tank with fresh water and replace. 
  5. Exit Cleaning Mode:
  • Press and hold the 'Clean/Flushing' button for 3 seconds to exit cleaning mode; the display will indicate this status. You will see flashing line will the steamer heats up and returns to normal function. 
  • Press the 'Clean/Flushing' button one final time to purge any remaining steam before resuming operation. 

Additional Tips:

  • Safety Precautions:

    • Always ensure the machine is turned off and cooled down before performing any cleaning tasks.
    • Avoid using abrasive materials or cleaners on the steam wand or other components to prevent damage.
  • Regular Maintenance:

    • Regularly check the steam wand and nozzle for blockages. If milk residue has dried on the steam wand, wrap it with a damp cloth, activate the steam briefly, and let it soak to loosen the residue before wiping clean.
